Visit to Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (17 Feb, 2020)

An academic visit was carried out to Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI), an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India located in NCR Biotech Science Cluster, Faridabad for B. Sc III students on 17.02.2020. On reaching the institute, we were received by Dr Siuli; where she briefed about the visit and explained major research themes undertaken by the institute. During the visit the students were taken to the Bio-Repository Lab headed by Dr. Pallavi K Shetrapal, She explained how the lab is focused towards identification of biomarkers from human circulating blood and from human placenta that can be utilised for development of translational modalities against preterm pregnancies. Students also visited the C.B.D. (The Centre for Bio-Design & Diagnostics). Here the students interacted with Dr Neeraj Kumar, who briefed the students about various equipment’s used in biotechnology research at CBD like Nano-plotter, Bioreactor & Surface Plasmon Resonance etc. The whole tour was about three hours long and students got a feel for biotechnology and bioinformatics research at the institute. It is rightly said that “See & know’ is better than ‘read & learn’. They got a chance to know that how their theoretical knowledge is applied for the benefit of mankind.   
 

 

Visit to National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi (11 Nov, 2019)

Department of Biotechnology (I.T.S. Institute of Health & Allied Sciences, Ghaziabad), Students and Faculty visited NATIONAL INSTITUE OF IMMUNOLOGY, New Delhi on 11 Nov, 2019. They got information about the translational aspect of immunology and modern biology. Students also got opportunity to talk on research of Dr. Amulya K. Panda (Director, NII, New Delhi), Dr. Anil Suri (Former Director, NII New Delhi) and other eminent scientists. Our students also got an opportunity to participate in quiz, which was very informative. They also visit the laboratory of Dr. Amulya Kr Panda & Dr Sarika Gupta and know about the research activity, functioning in different clinical field.

 

Industrial Visit to Yakult Danon India Pvt. Ltd.  (11 Sep, 2019)
 

Students and Faculty of Department of Biotechnology, ITS-IHAS, Muradnagar, Ghaziabad Visited Yakult Danone India (P) Ltd, Sonepat, Haryana on 11th  Sep, 2019 for academic and practical exposure.Yakult, a probiotic drink was launched in India in 2007, and is presently available in many cities. Students came to know about the health benefit of probiotics - like suppressing the harmful bacteria, preventing intestinal disorders and building immunity without any side effects. Students also aware about the production process of probiotics drink.

 

Industrial Visit to Yakult Danone India (P) Ltd (5 Dec, 2018)

Students and Faculty of Department of Biotechnology, ITS-IHAS, Muradnagar, Ghaziabad Visited Yakult Danone India (P) Ltd, Sonepat, Haryana for academic and practical exposure. Yakult, a probiotic drink was launched in India in 2007, and is presently available in many cities. Students came to know about the health benefit of probiotics - like suppressing the harmful bacteria, preventing intestinal disorders and building immunity without any side effects. Many publication have indicated that Yakult’s bacteria help activate Natural Killer cells of the immune system and have the potential to reduce the risk of cancers especially bladder, colorectal and breast cancer

 

Educational and Excursion Tour to KUFRI & SHIMLA (21 Nov, 2018)

Students of Department of Biotechnology were on an academic tour to Kufri & Shimla and nearby area from 17th to 20th November, 2018.   under the guidance of 6 faculty and staff members namely Dr. Brahm Kumar Tiwari, Dr. Bhupendra Kumar, Dr. Vipin Kumar Saini, Ms. Gitanjali Choudhary, Ms. Swati khurana and Mr. Sandeep  They visited 2 important Central Institutes that is Indian Institute of Advance Studies, Shimla and Central Potato Research Institute, Kufri (Shimla).  Students were quite happy to know about these 2 institute of national importance. CPRI has produced innumerable varieties of potato being grown worldwide. This is the only institute in India which is producing seeds of Potato. Students came across with the procedure of production of variety of potato, seeds, and artificial seeds and for the first time in life. Students show the flower on the potato plants which was much fascinating. They also came across to know about the tissue culture technology being used in institute. Students were also visited many iconic sites and involved in many activities.    

 

Visit to NATIONAL INSTITUE OF IMMUNOLOGY, New Delhi (28 Sept- 2018)

Department of Biotechnology (I.T.S. Institute of Health & Allied Sciences), M.Sc. students visited on 28.09.18. Students got information in the recent advances in Science and Technology. Students also got opportunity to interact with Dr. Amulya k. Panda (Director, NII, New Delhi) and Dr. Anil Suri (Former Director, NII). Which was very informative?

 

Industrial Visit to Mohan Meakin Breweries Ltd, Mohannagar, Ghaziabad (22 Sep, 2018)

Students of B. Sc. (Biotechnology) IIIrd year & M. Sc. (Biotechnology) Ist sem visited Mohan Meakin Breweries Ltd., Mohannagar, Ghaziabad to study about in details of Fermentation process in production of Alcohols and other by products of this industry. Students observed very enthusiastically the formation of beverages, cornflex and apple juice. They got practical knowledge and details of Fermentation and distillation process. The whole group of students was present along with the faculty members Viz Dr. Brahm Kumar Tiwari and Dr. Neha Mittal. Thanks Mohan Meakin Breweries for providing opportunity to our students. Students were very excited to visit this company because it was related to their core subject. Students got aware about the practical knowledge distillation, condensation, processing of Breweries and other products. This industrial trip was highly useful for the students in terms of practical knowledge about the fermented food and beverages. This trip will also be helpful for them to find placement opportunities in such industries.

 

Visit to Wellness and Krishi India Expo 2018 New Delhi (21 – 22 Aug, 2018)

The wellness and Krishi India Expo 2018 was organized by Ministry of rural development, Ministry of tourism and Department of Biotechnology in association with India trade promotion organization (ITPO) in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on 20th – 22nd August, 2018.

Organizers invited this department on its merit to attend the above mentioned conference. Dr. Surendra Singh(Principal) and faculty members Dr. Brahm Kumar Tiwari, Dr. Vipin Saini, Dr. Bhupendra Kumar and Mrs. Priyanka Sharma along with 72 students attended the event.

Students attended the seminar and get aware about the new approaches in the subject and also got the knowledge of Pvt. Companies working in the field of Biotechnology. Eminent Scientist of the India attended this seminar. The lectures were of great help to our students. Students and faculty apparently discussed their quaeries with resources persons, CEO’s of participating companies, in the Fields of Ayush, Medicine, Agriculture, Forest. Almost every state of India participated in the event with their products related to Biotechnology.

 

Educational and Excursion Tour to HBG, Nainital (26-28 Feb, 2018)

Students of Dept. of Biotechnology, I.T.S Institute of Health & Allied Sciences, Muradnagar visited Nainital from 26.02.2018 to 28.02.2018 for Education and Excursion Tour. The tour was accompanied by 39 students and 6 faculty members. The journey started on 26th Feb, 2018 by Bus to Kaladhungi and from then by cabs to Dynasty Resort Khurpatal. Monday evening was spend in visiting khurpa lake and nearby site seeing. Highlight of the night was DJ arranged for the students. On 27th Feb after viewing different site seeing on the way we visited Himalayan Botanical Garden. HBG is a national fame biodiversity reserve for both plants and animals. Students visited Herbarium hall, Insect museum, seed bank, germplasm lab etc. and gained onsite knowledge. Major attraction was the Naini Lake in which students enjoyed boating and visited Mall road famous for its antique looks. In the evening students enjoyed bonfire, dancing, singing and playing antakshari. On 28th Feb, visiting other site seeing our journey ended reaching Ghaziabad.

Visit to I.A.R.I. New Delhi (November 14, 2017)

On 14th Nov, 2017 M.Sc. (Biotechnology) III Sem students from Department of Biotechnology, I.T.S Paramedical College visited Centre for Environment Science and Climate Resilient Agriculture (CESRA) Division of Indian Agricultural Research Institute (I.A.R.I) New Delhi for Academic Tour. The Center has ambitious programme of collaborating with the public, private and civil society organizations to develop and demonstrate the technologies on-farm and promote them to enhance resilience of Indian agriculture and improve the livelihood of farmers. Students were benefited in many ways. Dr. D K Sharma Principal Scientist interacted with the students and discussed on Environment and Climate Change.

Visit to Wellness India 2017 Expo (29-31 August, 2017)

Faculty and Students from Department of Biotechnology, I.T.S Paramedical College participated in a 3 day Conference at Wellness India 2017 Expo, New Delhi. On 30.08.2017 Biotech India Day was organized and Technical Sessions on Medical Biotech, Agri Biotech, Animal Biotech and Bioinformatics were held by the experts of respective fields. On 31.08.2017 Organic India Day was observed in which Technical Sessions on Organic Farming, Smart Foods, Organic Medicines were held. It was a great interactive event for the biotech students in which they learned and observed recent developments that are taking place in biotechnology field.

Industrial Visit to “Central Potato Research Institute” Modipuram, Meerut 24th Dec, 2016

On 24th Dec, 2016 Department of Biotechnology arranged a one day Industrial Visit to “Central Potato Research Institute” Modipuram, Meerut for B.Sc. Biotechnology III Year students. CPRIC, Modipuram is the biggest Research Station of the Central Research Institute, Shimla under ICAR. The institute is famous for its research in the field of Potato Research, Plant Tissue Culture Technology, Seed Technology, Soil Science, Organic Farming etc. On the visit a brief lecture was given by Dr. Ashok Kumar, Asstt. Chief Technical Officer who informed the students about various agricultural activities being performed by the Scientists at CPRIC, Modipuram. He also informed about the varieties of potatoes being produced at CPRIC. Joint Director Dr. Manoj Kumar also addressed the students and informed them about the history  of the institute and various stations of CPRI. The students visited laboratories, plant tissue culture labs, museum, potato fields, hydroponic system unit, aeroponic system unit etc.

 

Academic Visit to I.A.R.I. New Delhi 13th Oct, 2016

 

M.Sc. (Biotechnology) students from Department of Biotechnology visited Centre for Environment Science and Climate Resilient Agriculture (CESRA) Division of Indian Agricultural Research Institute (I.A.R.I) New Delhi for Academic Tour. The Center has ambitious programme of collaborating with the public, private and civil society organizations to develop and demonstrate the technologies on-farm and promote them to enhance resilience of Indian agriculture and improve the livelihood of farmers. Students were benefited in many ways. A special lecture was also given by Dr. D K Sharma Principal Scientist on Environment and Climate Change.

 

Industrial Visit cum Excursion Tour to Happy Valley Tea Estate, Darjeeling and Gangtok from 1st Nov to 8th Nov 2015.

The tour was accompanied by 37 students and 6 faculty members. The journey started on 1st Nov by Mahananda Express from Delhi to New Jalpaiguri. During two days stay at Gangtok the students visited MG Market, Tsomgo lake. Because of bad weather and security reasons the team was not permitted to go for Baba Mandir and Nathula bypass. After having great enjoyment in Gangtok we left for Darjeeling. Staying two days in the Queen of Hills was itself a great experience. During stay in Darjeeling we visited Happy Valley Tea Estate in Darjeeling which was established by british government in 1857. Mr Ajay Mondal the supervisor explained us different processes of manufacturing organic tea. Tea appreciation session was also held in which the students were made to taste different types of tea which were manufactured by Happy Valley Tea Estate. All the students were excited to see the processing of tea industry live. We visited Himalyan Mountaineering Institute and Padmaja Naidu Himalyan Zoological Park.

“Yakult Danone India Pvt. Ltd.” Sonipat (Haryana) 11th Feb, 2015

 

On 11th Feb, 2015 industrial visit was organized for M.Sc. students to “Yakult Danone India Pvt. Ltd.” Sonipat (Haryana).  Yakult is a pioneer in Probiotic foods worldwide since 1935, Yakult was launched in Delhi and NCR in December 2007, followed by Chandigarh, Jaipur, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Mysore. Yakult has a global presence in more than 30 countries. This refreshingly delicious drink has proven health benefits recognized worldwide and has 30 million people drinking it every day. Daily consumption of Yakult helps improve digestion and build immunity. The Yakult plant located at Sonipat has seen visits of a number of academic organization. The tour provides a firsthand experience to understand the science behind Probiotics and learn more about its unique production process. The students had a very unique experience of visiting Yakult as it the only manufacturing plant of Yakult in northern part of India and the entire step wise process of manufacturing pro-biotic drink can be clearly visible behind the glass frame. 

Central Research Institute (CRI), Kasauli. Solan (H.P.) on 24th & 25th Nov, 2014

An Industrial Visit was organized for the students of Biotechnology to Central Research Institute (CRI), Kasauli. Solan (H.P.) on 24th & 25th Nov, 2014.Central Research Institute (CRI), Solan (H.P.) originally the Pasteur Institute of India, was established at Kasauli in 1904. The institute works in the fields of immunology and virological research. The CRI works as a World Health Organization ‘Collaborating Centre’, and as an immuno-biological laboratory producing vaccines for measles and polio, and the DTP group of vaccines. Dr. Yashwant Kumar, Chief Scientist coordinated the visit. He interacted with the students and gave very useful information about the laboratories, infrastructure and functioning of various units working at CRI. Students came to know about the involvement of CRI in development of various vaccines and the new and advance types of vaccines being designed at the CRI. Students were also informed about the various types of training programs performed at CRI and how to approach for training. Dr. Yashwant also discussed the job opportunities for the graduates and post graduates in biotechnology in various sectors of science and inter disciplinary areas. The industrial visit was a conducted very successfully.   

 

Auroprobe Laboratories, Ghaziabad

M. Sc. Students of biotechnology visited Auroprobe laboratories, Ghaziabad which is a biotech company dealing in diagnostic kits manufacturing and contract research on April and November 2010. Demonstration cum hands-on training of various cutting edge instruments was given to students. They also visited the research and development and manufacturing unit to gain real time industrial exposure.

 

iLife Discoveries in IMT Manesar, Gurgaon 30th Nov.2010

An educational tour was organized by the department of Biotechnology for the students of M.Sc.(Biotech.) 3rd Sem. on 30th Nov.2010 to iLife Discoveries in IMT Manesar, Gurgaon .Dr. Seema P. Upadhye was accompanied by three other faculty members Dr.Ahkilesh Tiwari, Dr. Manoj Kumar and Ms. Alka Diwaker. Mr. Anand Gupta, an NRI, is the Founder and CEO, iLife Discoveries. According to him there is endless scope of Biotechnology in India and lots of companies are requiring employees for the research. He wants to shake hands with the institutions and with leading organizations to set manpower trained.
