    An academic visit was carried out to Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI), an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India located in NCR Biotech Science Cluster, Faridabad for B.Sc III students on 17.02.2020. On reaching the institute, we were received by DrSiuli; where she  briefed  about the visit and explained major research themes undertaken by the institute. During the visit the students were taken to the Bio-Repository Lab headed by Dr. DrPallaviKshetrapal, She explained how the lab is focused towards identification of biomarkers from human circulating blood and from human placenta that can be utilised for development of translational modalities against preterm pregnancies. Students also visited the C.B.D.(The Centre for Bio-Design & Diagnostics). Here the students interacted with DrNeeraj Kumar, who briefed the studentsabout  variousequipment’s used in biotechnology research at CBD like Nano-plotter, Bioreactor & Surface Plasmon Resonance etc. The whole tour was about three hours long and students got a feel for biotechnology and bioinformatics research at the institute. It is rightly said that “See & know’ is better than ‘read & learn’. They got a chance to know that how their theoretical knowledge is applied for the benefit of mankind.

     Department of Biotechnology, ITS-IHAS, organized a programme in response to a letter from chief development officer Ghaziabad and RUSA to emphasize the importance of learning and reading the books; the main aim of which is the reading is necessary for the development of Ghaziabad and ultimately the nation. Students about 200 in number read different text books as science, arts, culture and contemporary issues as per programme of govt. of Uttar Pradesh from 11AM to 11:45 AM.  Students were free to read the books of their choice. Students prepare the notes from the text books to show the seriousness of the programme.

    Faculty members also read books and discussed the contents with other members.

    IHAS, Department of Biotechnology organized world AIDS day to spread the awareness against AIDS on the day. World AIDS Day is important because it reminds the public and government that HIV has not gone away – there is still a vital need to raise money, increase awareness, fight prejudice and improve education. Globally, there are an estimated 36.7 million people living with HIV. World AIDS Day is an opportunity to show solidarity with the millions of people living with HIV worldwide. For the same vision institute organize a event in which students gave presentation and organize a quiz competition for increasing awareness about the symptoms, causes and preventives of the pandemic disease HIV/AIDS that has taken unprecedented number of lives. Celebration of World AIDS Day is symbolically a call to enhance social protection mechanism for people with HIV and alert governments in framing unbiased policies for vulnerable population so that they enjoy equal status in the society. In Ghaziabad there are 2460 AIDS patients under treatment which is the highest number of patient in state. About 100 new patients per year come in Ghaziabad for treatment. Indian government has target to control the disease by 2024 with the help NACO, Government organization & Non – Government organization.

    The existence and successful survival of ‘Democracy ‘in such diverse conditions is the most celebrated fact about our country and constitution is its backbone. To reinforce the significance and importance of constitution the Institute of Health and allied Sciences, Ghaziabad celebrated 26th of November 2019 as National Constitution Day. The celebration started with the Principal addressing the students about the significance of the Constitution Day and the importance of being a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic and Republic country.
    Students also delivered Speeches on Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties, Summary of Constitution were also prepared by the students of Biotechnology to enhance the awareness about their constitution
    Function was organized under the able guidance of Dr. R.P Chadha Ji (Chairman, I.T.S The Education Group) and Mr. Arpit Chadha (Vice Chairman, I.T.S The Education Group).

    Department of Biotechnology, I.T.S IHAS, Muradnagar organized Biotechnix – 2019 on 13.11.2019. Students and teachers nearby Inter college attended the event. Faculty exhibited the experiment to the students. Faculty and student of school were happy to do the experiment themselves. They performed experiment on DNA Isolation, Enzymology, Adulteration test, Electrophoresis, Tissue culture  etc. Chairman, Dr. R.P Chadha ji and Vice Chairman, Mr. Arpit Chadha ji send their good wishes to the students & faculty. Sh. Surender Sood (Director Public Relation) explained the importance of education to the students. He advised the students to choose the best institute for their future. He also narrated the importance of I.T.S College to the society. Principal, Dr. Surendra Singh elaborated the role of biotechnology in different fields.

    Department of Biotechnology (I.T.S. Institute of Health & Allied Sciences, Ghaziabad), Students and Faculty visited NATIONAL INSTITUE OF IMMUNOLOGY, New Delhi on 11 Nov, 2019. They got information about the translational aspect of immunology and modern biology. Students also got opportunity to talk on research of Dr. Amulya K. Panda (Director, NII, New Delhi), Dr. Anil Suri (Former Director, NII New Delhi) and other eminent scientists. Our students also got an opportunity to participate in quiz, which was very informative. They also visit the laboratory of Dr. Amulya Kr Panda & Dr Sarika Gupta and know about the research activity, functioning in different clinical field.

    Department of Biotechnology, I.T.S IHAS Ghaziabad celebrated “National Unity Day” which was attended by faculty, students and staff. This day is celebrated to commemorate the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31st October who really unified the country by integration of 562 smaller princely state of India.
    The program was presided over by Dr. Surendra Singh, Principal-Biotechnology. In his inaugural speech, Dr. Singh elaborated the significance of unity. He asked them to work for unity of the nation. The students in his/her speech expressed their views on “Contribution of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel for Unity, Safety and Security of India”. It was followed by Oath Ceremony, wherein the students and teachers took a pledge to stand for Unity and Integrity of the country.
